On-Ramp Program

The On-Ramp course gives coaches dedicated time for teaching beginners the basic mechanics and movements they’ll be expected to perform in regular classes.
This program will keep you safe by teaching you how to safely execute movements and lifts so that when you show up to class, you’re:

  • More prepared
  • Less intimidated, and
  • Less likely to get injured.

The On-Ramp program also gives us the chance to provide specific, personalised advice to each newcomer in the very beginning of their training.

Expectations:

The On-Ramp program will give us the opportunity to get to know you — your injuries, your abilities, and your goals — so that you can develop mobility exercises and modifications that will help you with your weaknesses or movement restrictions (like tight ankles or hips). During this time we will suggest what weight you should start with for various lifts so you feel more prepared when you attend our group classes.

Teach proper gym etiquette:

We will show you how to safely use all of our equipment so you’ll feel at home when you walk into the gym.

Run efficient classes:

The On-Ramp program helps with keeping regular classes efficient as it gives everyone the confidence to do what they need to do.

The ‘why,’ not just the ‘how’:

Throughout the program, we’ll explain our fitness philosophy and why certain movements are executed in a particular way so that you can make more educated training decisions during those first few months of classes.

Be cruel to be kind:

Being ruthless with movement standards and not letting beginners move poorly just so they get a ‘good workout’ in. This introductory program is not just about getting you sweaty — it’s about getting you ready to join classes.

The value of quality over quantity:

This goes hand in hand with leaving egos at the door. In these classes, we want to stress that even though by going hard and heavy we can get results, it is absolutely imperative that we move safely first. This is where we teach you that in order to move fast, you have to first move well and moving well is an ongoing challenge.

The general timeline of a class:

We’re here to help beginners understand how our classes are structured. With us, it goes like this:

  1. A customised warmup for the workout
  2. Workout prep to review the movements
  3. A scaled workout
  4. Optional stretches or mobility cool down

No one should be working beyond a reasonable ability:

It’s our job to push people to their limits and then scale accordingly. After all, the goals with the On-Ramp program is to:

  • Help people move better
  • Prove what a professional, highly-skilled team we have.
